Mina de Oro Viognier from the Luzon winery is a 100% Viognier wine that is barrel-fermented and aged. These Viognier grapes come from the fertile vineyards of Jumilla. Bodega Luzon is one of the most important and historic producers here, having been producing quality wines since the late 19th century.
The Old Luzon Winery
Jumilla is located southeast of Spain in the Murcia region, and the climate is continental thanks to the Mediterranean Sea. Warm days, rain, and cold nights alternate, resulting in beautifully ripe grapes with excellent acidity. The origins of this winery go back to 1841. Don José de Molina was an army doctor serving on the Philippine island of Luzon. After a long absence, he returned to his native Jumilla and named it Finca Luzon. He founded the winery for his daughter. The old winery has been largely run by women ever since. Since then, modern, fruity wines have been produced, primarily using the Monastrell grape variety, characteristic of Jumilla. The Viognier grapes are harvested by hand at night. After being brought to the winery, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. The wine is then transferred to stainless steel tanks where fermentation begins spontaneously. Afterward, the wine is transferred to used French oak barrels where fermentation is completed. The wine then matures here on the lees. This process gives the wine extra creaminess and complexity.
Enjoy the full and round taste of Mina de Oro Viognier
This Luzon Mina de Oro Viognier is golden yellow in the glass with an aromatic bouquet of flowers, apricots, mango, and peach. It's a creamy wine with a full, rounded flavor. Thanks to the oak aging, some oak notes are also present. This all carries through to a refreshing finish. This wine pairs well with pan-fried rosefish.
