Description
The King of Luzon, this Luzon Portu, hasn't gone unnoticed by the international wine press. It received a remarkable 91 points from Wine Spectator and 91 points from Guia Peñin. The grapes come from Luzon's finest vineyards and have been in the ground for a long time. Their roots have been able to establish themselves deeply, giving the grapes a rich terroir. The old vines produce beautiful, full clusters and are harvested by hand.
The history of Luzon Winery
Bodega Luzon was founded in 1916 by several families working in the wine industry in Jumilla. A new bodega was added in 2000. After several expansions and modernizations, the company was taken over by the Fuertes family in 2006. Since then, the winery has grown significantly and now owns 1,200 hectares in Jumilla, located about 100 kilometers west of Alicante. The soil here is poor and calcareous. It is dry and warm, with significant temperature variations between day and night. The roots have to work hard to absorb all the minerals and nutrients. But this results in beautifully concentrated grapes. And the ultimate result: elegant wines.Enjoy the quality wine Luzon Porti
This wine is a blend of two grape varieties: Monastrell (80 percent) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20 percent). The grapes used to make Por tí come from vines that are approximately 50 years old and located at an altitude of 650 meters. Harvest is carried out manually, with the grapes transported to the winery in small 10-15 kilogram boxes to prevent damage before arrival. At the winery, the grapes are selected at a selection table before the vatting and vinification process begins. The must is then fermented at a controlled temperature of 28-30 degrees Celsius for approximately 10 days. In the subsequent maceration phase, the skins remain on the grapes for the next 10 to 15 days. Finally, Por tí is aged for 18 months in American and French oak barrels before bottling. The aroma reveals ripe fruit, red berries, spices, cocoa, and toasty oak. The palate is full and very juicy, with a rich, full-bodied mouthfeel of black fruit and light spice. A hint of toast, oak, and dark chocolate on the back of the tongue.Product details
