Maggio Family Vineyards Zinfandel 2023
Zinfandel as connoisseurs love to drink it, full of ripe dark fruit with a spicy glow. The Maggio family has been making wine in Lodi for almost a century, and you can taste that in the balance between concentration and suppleness. This cuvée, sourced from their own vineyards, lets blackberries, cherries, and plums shine, with just the right amount of roundness to immediately seduce.
Vineyards and region
The grapes are sourced from the Lodi AVA in California, where warm days and cool evenings produce ripe, crisp fruit. Zinfandel ripens irregularly, so it is rigorously hand-selected in the vineyard. The fruit comes from the Maggio Family Vineyards, part of Oak Ridge Winery in Lodi.
Vinification and maturation
After traditional fermentation, it's aged for 10 months in French oak, which gives the wine roundness without overpowering the fruit. How long is this Zinfandel aged in oak? Ten months in French oak, for soft tannins and subtle notes of vanilla and coffee. Serve best at 16–18°C.
Grape composition
