Winemaker and eponymous winery Marco Porello is a small wine producer from Piedmont. A winemaker close to our hearts, he creates the finest creations with respect for nature and ancient Italian traditions. He cultivates various grape varieties on his small vineyard, including this red Barbera d'Alba. The steep slopes and old vines contribute to the exceptionally high quality of the juice. Marco Porello began around the 1930s. He founded the winery with his sons, and today the third generation is at the helm of this beautiful winery.

Marco Porello's old Barbera d'Alba vineyard

Barbera grapes are grown around the municipality of Canale in Piedmont. The soil, composed of limestone, sand, and clay, significantly influences this red wine. It becomes full-bodied and powerful while retaining the freshness of Barbera d'Alba. The old vineyard, also known as the Mommiano, produces truly fantastic grapes. These are harvested by hand and subject to strict quality control. The best bunches are placed in small crates and transported to Marco Porello. Upon arrival, the bunches are gently pressed, and the wine is aged on the skins for up to ten days. This gives it full aromas and a ruby-red color.

The aroma and taste of the Marco Porello Barbera d'Alba

Marco Porello Barbera d Alba Mommiano has a beautiful ruby red color. This wonderfully young red wine is made from the Barbera grape, one of the most famous grape varieties from Piedmont. The nose reveals refined aromas of ripe cherries and red fruit. The palate is wonderfully full and rounded, with lovely nuances of red fruit and a very fine acidity on the palate. Thanks to the eight months of oak aging, we also detected hints of vanilla and licorice. The long, sultry finish completes this wine's character.
