The Marco Porello winery is located in the heart of the Langhe wine region and is known for its steep hills where the grapes grow. He has planted several well-known grape varieties here, from Moscato to Nebbiolo, and from Barbera to Arneis. Finally, he has a small vineyard with the Vermentino grape, known in Piedmont as Favorita. Each wine typifies the diversity of Piedmont and is highly representative of what the region has to offer. This white wine is therefore very limited in volume but is incredibly refined.
The old Favorita vineyard in Langhe
Originating from vineyards around the municipalities of Vezza d'Alba and Canale in Piedmont. The sandy and calcareous soil influences the harvest. The slightly cooler climate is also perfect for the Favorita grape. They retain their freshness while receiving ample sunshine. The Favorita grapes ripen evenly and are harvested by hand at perfect ripeness. During harvest, only the best bunches are picked to guarantee the purity of this white wine. After pressing, this Langhe Favorita is aged on its lees for several months in Marco Porello's cellars. This gives this white wine greater depth and richness.
Marco Porello's favorite wine
Marco Porello Langhe Favorita is made from a special grape, Favorita. The name of this grape lives up to its name. One of our favorite wines is this white wine from Marco Porello. Favorita is a late-ripening grape from Piedmont, producing wines with good acidity and a rather lively aroma reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc. The aroma reveals white fruit such as pear, freshly mown grass, and blossom. The palate is pleasantly fresh with delicate nuances of citrus and a touch of pineapple. This wonderful wine from Marco Porello finishes perfectly with a fresh, slightly salty finish, making it a delicious pairing with fish dishes.
