Spanish quality wines from Marques De Caceres
It was Enrique Forner who, in 1970, decided to put all his winemaking experience into practice in his native Spain. And so he founded Marques de Caceres. From the very beginning, the foundation has been focused on quality and honesty. All wines in the range are produced personally and using only his own resources. Furthermore, Enrique Forner made history in La Rioja. Where the tradition was to age the wines for a long time in barrels, he opted to age them in new barrels and shortened the aging time. This allowed the fruit to shine through and the wine to better express the terroir.
The winery owns vineyards in Serrada and La Seca, largely dedicated to the Verdejo grape. The vineyards are worked with great care, resulting in beautifully ripe grapes that beautifully express the region's production. The climate is dominant, with warm days and cool nights. This favors the grapes, as do the poor, primarily sandy soils. At optimal ripeness, the Verdejo grapes are harvested at night. These cool temperatures preserve their characteristics. In the winery, the grapes undergo a cooling process, followed by pressing. Fermentation takes place on the fine lees at controlled temperatures between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius. The wine is then stored on its fine lees, and after the necessary rest, it is time for bottling.
What does the Marques De Caceres Excellens Verdejo taste like?
This Verdejo radiates a light yellow color with greenish glints in the glass. The aromas are expressive, with notes of fresh hay, citrus, nectarine, and wildflowers. It immediately seduces you from the first sip. The palate is equally exquisite, with a lovely, lively acidity and a tropical flavor thanks to fruity notes.
