Powerful and strong as a lion, yet as soft as its fur—that's what this Max Lion Grenache represents. Made entirely from the Grenache grape variety, it's grown in the vineyards of the Loire Valley.
The perfect base for Vignobles Vellas wines
The Vignobles Vellas winery was founded four generations ago in the heart of the Languedoc region. The main family property, the Mas du Pont estate, the center of their operations, is a place of culture and tradition. It is located in the towns of Teyran and Crès, near Montpellier, between Pic St. Loup and the Mediterranean Sea. Today, Nicolas Vella is at the helm; he is passionate about wine and the Languedoc region. He strives for excellence, authenticity, and innovation. This provides the perfect foundation for producing wines of exceptional quality. Vignobles Vellas boasts 120 hectares of vineyards spread across five estates. The bottles are distinguished by striking labels.
In addition to their own vineyards, their selection is further supplemented by partnerships with winemakers from the Languedoc, the Sud-Ouest, the Rhône Valley, and Provence. Thanks to these collaborations, they can offer wines from all regions of southern France. The majority of their vineyards are organic, as respect for nature is paramount.
Completely hand-harvested for Max Lion Grenache
Vinification of hand-picked berries at their optimal ripeness and hand-sorting is carried out traditionally in steel tankers at a controlled temperature. Max Lion erupts a garnet-ruby red in the glass, with aromas immediately released. The aroma has hints of black fruit such as cassis, cherry, and a faint hint of blackberry. The back of the nose reveals subtle nuances of spice and pepper. The palate is very smooth, even velvety, with a robust attack of dark fruit and the perfect balance of spice.
