Description
This versatile Chardonnay is named after the daughter of the McPherson family. The entire family works at the winery, but she was the only one who decided to pursue a degree and ultimately become a lawyer. On weekends, she enjoys making wine for her family and returning to the vineyards, where she most enjoys a glass of McPherson Chardonnay.
McPherson Family Wines
Andrew McPherson began his career in the wine industry in 1960. After initially gaining experience at a nearby winery, he and his father founded McPherson Winery in 1968. The vineyards are located in Southern Australia, in Central Victoria and Murray Darling. They focus on popular varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Shiraz. Thanks to their passion and experience, the wines quickly gained international acclaim. Today, the winery is still family-owned. The wines are all named after family members, with each wine reflecting the family member.
Various winemaking techniques for McPherson Chardonnay
The grapes come from vineyards in the Goulburgn Valley. At optimal ripeness, the Chardonnay grapes are carefully harvested and crushed during the cool of the night. This preserves their freshness. The juice is then divided into equal parts, each undergoing its own vinification process. One part undergoes malolactic fermentation and aging in French oak, while the other part spends a longer period on the lees. Together, these create a unique character thanks to the various winemaking techniques. A pale golden wine with aromas of tropical fruit and peaches, and thanks to the oak aging, a hint of lightly toasted oak. On the palate, this Chardonnay is wonderfully fresh and ripe with notes of melon and figs. It has a creamy texture but is above all refreshing with a pleasant finish. A versatile wine from McPherson that pairs well with a wide variety of dishes.
