The perfect vineyards for Meran Festival Chardonnay

Meran Festival Chardonnay comes from various growing regions in Italy, including Lagundo, Lana, Marlengo, Merano, and Scena, situated at altitudes of 280 to 450 meters above sea level. The vineyards have an average age of 10 to 30 years. The soil in which the Chardonnay grapes grow consists of light loamy sand, granite, and gneiss. This diverse soil composition contributes to the wine's complexity and distinctive characteristics. The vinification process begins with cold maceration of the grapes in the press, which helps preserve their aromatic qualities. Temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation then takes place in small stainless steel tanks. This allows the winemaker optimal control over the fermentation conditions and the fruit's expression. After alcoholic fermentation, the Meran Festival Chardonnay does not undergo malolactic fermentation, preserving the wine's freshness and vibrancy. The wine is then aged for five months on the fine lees, which helps develop complex flavors and a richer texture.
