Varietal(s) Gewurztraminer

In the enchanting region of South Tyrol, the unique Gewürztraminer grape variety, a native white wine grape, is cultivated. Here, the grape develops a lush character. With a history dating back to the 11th century, this grape has made its mark as an extraordinary, unique, and aromatic variety. This is certainly the case in this version of Meran Festival.

The vinification process of Meran Festival Gewurztraminer

The Gewürztraminer grapes for this wine originate from the growing areas of Lagundo, Lana, Marlengo, Scena, and Tirolo, where they thrive at altitudes ranging from 400 to 500 meters above sea level. These areas offer ideal conditions for the development of this unique grape variety. The vineyards from which the grapes are sourced have an average age of 10 to 15 years, which contributes to the quality and concentration of the wine. The soils consist of loamy sand. This composition contributes to the complexity of the final wine. After harvest, the grapes undergo a 12-hour cold maceration in the press, which extracts their aromatic qualities. Temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation then takes place in small stainless steel tanks, preserving the wine's freshness and vibrancy. After fermentation, the wine is aged on the fine lees for five months. This aging on the lees also contributes to the development of the characteristic aromatic characteristics and ensures a refined and lingering finish.
