Madame and Mister Wisdom dreamed of opening their own winery in California. After a long search, the couple established their own winery, Wisdom Wines, in 1970. They owned two vineyards, as Madame preferred white Chardonnay and Mister Wisdom preferred Cabernet Sauvignon. This way, they each had their own vineyard but advised each other on the process. Their love for each other and for the grapes is clearly evident in the wines. In recent years, they have invested heavily in modern winemaking techniques and purchased many new wooden barrels. All of this contributes to the consistent quality of Wisdom's white and red wines.
Mister Wisdom's old Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard
The vineyard, filled with the renowned Cabernet Sauvignon grape, is Mister Wisdom's creation. Over the years, he has poured so much love into it that we can taste it in this red wine. Besides the Cabernet Sauvignon, he also has a tiny bit of Petit Syrah and Merlot to play with. This results in a truly top-quality wine. But before we get to that point, we should tell you how beautiful the vineyard is. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes receive plenty of sunshine, but also some coolness from the wind and falling nighttime temperatures. This creates a unique climate and, as Mister Wisdom himself says, perfect for a top-quality red wine. After the harvest, this red wine is aged for several months in oak barrels, making it powerful and full-bodied.
What does the Mister Wisdom Cabernet Sauvignon taste like?
Upon opening the bottle, we smelled abundant black fruit with hints of cocoa and vanilla. These notes were further enhanced in the glass, and the wine itself had a dark color with purple hues. With our noses raised above the glass, we detected berries, blackberries, spices, and vanilla. The flavor of this Mister Wisdom Cabernet Sauvignon was full-bodied and powerful, with abundant black fruit, some spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, as well as vanilla and oak. A truly exceptional addition to our collection.
