A true triumph in the form of a 1.5-liter magnum: Montbiset Réserve Chardonnay Heritage. This wine reveals a rich and voluptuous character, exceptionally creamy and full-bodied, that is simply enchanting. Located in charming Saint Lucia, just a few kilometers from bustling Montpellier, you'll find the Montbiset winery. Amidst the vast vineyards of the Languedoc, where this white Chardonnay flourishes, each vine embodies the soul of this region. The diversity of the vineyards allows the winemakers to consistently produce a wine of exceptional quality—a quality they consider the absolute best in the region. And we can only agree; what a magnificent wine for this price.
The maturation of the Chardonnay in wood
Nurtured by the optimal climate, the Chardonnay grapes develop to perfect ripeness under the influence of the strong sun and the cooling sea breeze. This harmonious combination results in a powerful grape, which is partially harvested by hand towards the end of the growing season. Upon arrival in Montbiset, the grape bunches undergo careful selection before pressing, a crucial step in obtaining pure and ripe juice. The wine is then aged in wooden barrels in the Montbiset cellars, giving it its full, creamy character and an abundance of tropical fruit notes.
Revealing and powerful
Upon opening the magnum bottle, we are immediately captivated by a beautiful bouquet of hazelnuts, tropical fruit, and a hint of cedar. The golden liquid fills the glass, revealing its rich structure through the way it clings to the surface. At the first sip, the wine treats the palate to ripe flavors of mango, cedar, butterscotch, and yellow apple, while spicy and woody notes gently kiss the cheeks. What a masterpiece, full-bodied and creamy, perfectly balanced.
