Tedeschi's absolute highlight. The Monte Olmi Amarone from the Tedeschi estate is a cru named after the vineyard of the same name in Pedemonte di Valpolicella, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region. Few wines can match this powerhouse, for it is both full-bodied and creamy!

An Italian powerhouse from Tedeschi

He is the standard-bearer of the Tedeschi family. The Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone is a cru, the grapes coming from the vineyard of the same name, a mere 2.5 hectares, facing southwest. It is the only terraced vineyard: the steep slope allows water to drain away when there is too much rain, while the depth and structure of the soil, which consists primarily of clay marl, retain water when it becomes too dry. This ensures that the vines, which are on average twenty years old, always receive optimal supplies. For this Italian powerhouse, 30 percent of the Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, along with a total of 10 percent of other local red grapes such as Oseleta, Negrara, Croatina, Forselina, and Dindarella, are processed together. After harvest, they undergo the appassimento process, a four-month drying process in a special drying room with constant humidity control. This process allows the grapes to dry naturally, enhancing the wine's color, aroma, and flavor. This process is followed by a gentle pressing and subsequent alcoholic fermentation and maceration at controlled cool temperatures for forty to sixty days. The Amarone is then aged for four years in Slavonian oak barrels and, after bottling, is aged in the bottle for a further six months.

What does the Tedeschi Monte Olmi Amarone taste like?

The multi-award-winning Monte Olmi radiates ruby red, clear, and transparent in the glass. The broad aroma revealed numerous hints of raisins, figs, and plums, as well as spices, black fruit, and a touch of pepper. A wine that can definitely age for another 5 to 10 years, but is already perfect for drinking now. Drinking it is a true celebration; for a moment, our world stands still. The palate is beautifully balanced with notes of black fruit, figs, black plums, cinnamon, vanilla, tobacco, cedar, and much more! Sit back, relax, and enjoy this Monte Olmi Amarone from Tedeschi—a true celebration in itself!
