A special, unique new series of wines, the envy of wineries worldwide. After three decades of craftsmanship, Via Montgras has become an indispensable part of Chilean wine. With their 30th anniversary just around the corner, their Motngras Handcrafted wines demonstrate their continued standing as one of the region's top wines.

The Chilean wines of Montgras

For each individual wine in the Montgras Handcrafted series, a new, talented winemaker was brought in. For the second wine in the series, Montgras chose Alberto Antonini, a national winemaker with a certain allure. He wanted to give the unknown Cinsault the attention it truly deserves. Because, secretly, the Cinsault grape has incredible potential. Alberto Antonini got to work and let his creative juices flow. He searched for the most beautiful vineyard. After a long search, he found it: located in Coelemu in the charming Itata Valley. A relatively new wine region, but a true sensation after the launch of Montgras Handcrafted Rare 2 Cinsault. The vineyard is owned by Mrs. Teresa Artiaga and Mr. Felipe Orellana. This centuries-old vineyard produces superb Cinsault grapes. Irrigation is not used, as the climate doesn't require it. This leaves Montgras Handcrafted Rare 2 Cinsault truly at the mercy of the weather.

Impressions of Montgras Handcrafted Rare 2 Cinsault

The vines are incredibly old. Unfortunately, no one knows their exact age. They've been pruned into so-called bush vines. The vineyards don't have vines, but rather bushes full of grapes. The grapes are protected from extreme weather by a thick canopy of leaves, allowing Alberto to pick the finest bunches. After aging for 11 months in large French oak barrels, we can enjoy Montgras Handcrafted Rare 2 Cinsault. Thanks to the oak aging, the red fruit develops to unprecedented heights. Combined with the soft herbs and refined tannins, you get a vibrant glass of wine that even retains some freshness.
