The Gras Merlot Reserva has been a staple in our range for years, and we're very proud of it. The pure wines of Viña Montgras are a global success. Thanks to modern techniques and minimal spraying, the Gras brothers manage to offer consistent quality in their wines year after year. This has certainly not gone unnoticed by the international wine press. The De Gras Reserva series has already received numerous prestigious awards. A few years ago, this series was better known as Montgras Reserva, but recently it received a completely new look and name. Of course, it still maintains the quality we've come to expect from them.

The Merlot grapes for this Reserva wine, which indicates that this red wine is oak-aged, come from the Colchagua Valley. Many grape varieties thrive in this valley. It's therefore not surprising that many wineries have established themselves here over the years. With the warm climate during the day and the cool wind from the Andes at night, the grapes have all the time and tranquility to reach perfect ripeness. Once this perfect ripeness is achieved, the winemaker approves the manual selection and harvest of the grapes. During this harvest, the grapes are placed in small crates, where they are gently laid out before being transported to the press. This minimizes bruising on the grapes during transport. Once the wine is ready, it is then transferred to new French and American oak barrels for aging. This aging process lasts approximately eight months, after which the wine is bottle-aged for another two months.
The aroma and taste of De Gras Merlot Reserva
The final product is certainly impressive! We're in love with this red wine. The color alone is a feast for the eyes. Deep ruby red with a slight purple sheen. The aroma is intense, with rich aromas of ripe red and black fruit balanced by hints of coffee, cedar, and vanilla. The taste is like a warm duvet. The feeling of being nestled in the warm down is unmatched by this red wine. The delicious, silky-soft nuances of ripe black fruit combined with hints of chocolate, vanilla, and roasted nuts create a true taste sensation. The finish is long and velvety. Truly phenomenal!
