This Del Salento from Morando is made entirely from Negroamaro grapes. These grapes originate from a far-flung southern region, namely Apulia. This province is now by far the largest wine-producing province in Italy. Thanks to its consistently warm climate, it rarely experiences bad years. The fruit flourishes here, and this is also reflected in this powerful red wine.
The art of winemaking at Morando
The Campagnola winery was founded in 1886 by Carlo Campagnola. The wine cellars, which have been in the family's possession for four generations, are located in Valgatara. In addition to their own vineyards, the family business also has numerous long-term contracts with winemakers from Soave, Bardolino, Valpolicella, and Gambellara, as well as farmers from the province of Apulia. The vineyards in these areas are carefully selected. Thanks to these contracts, the winery is guaranteed the finest quality grapes for its Morando wines. The grapes are pressed in cellars in Valgatara and Apulia, using state-of-the-art equipment for winemaking and bottling. The white wines retain their freshness through fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. After fermentation, they are aged in original marble cellars in Slavonian oak barrels to refine their flavors.
The vinification of Morando Negroamaro del Salento
The grapes for this production are rigorously selected. After maceration, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Following this fermentation, the young wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for another four to six months.
This delicious wine, made from the Negroamaro grape, has aromas of lightly toasted wood and toasted oak, some pleasant cherry fruit, and a southern warmth. This Morando from the Salento wine region is a delightful wine, soft and fruity! A pleasant and flavorful palate, with plenty of warmth and some spice and cherry notes, with a lively acidity afterward. A wonderful wine to pair with grilled red meat, pasta, or aged cheeses.
