The beginning of the Anselmo Mendes winery
Anselmo Mendes began vinifying wine with the Alvarinho grape in 1998, his true love. He is one of Portugal's iconic winemakers. With his knowledge, intuition, and of course, state-of-the-art technology, he knows how to get the most out of what Portugal has to offer. He has made wine almost everywhere in Portugal, and that has given him the necessary knowledge. Anselmo Mendes has since proven himself as a winemaker. The winery is located in the Minho Valley, a place for research and experimentation. Today, he works with what he considers the three most important grapes of the region: Alvarinho from the Minho Valley, Loureiro from the Lima Valley, and Acesso from the Doura Valley.
A classic white wine from Anselmo Mendes
This classic blend is the result of centuries of winemaking and experience in blending different grape varieties for optimal results. They complement each other perfectly. The Alvarinho grape gives the wine structure and power, Loureiro contributes to the aromatic intensity, and finally, Avesso provides the beautiful acidity and minerality. After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and pressed. Fermentation follows at a low temperature between twelve and sixteen degrees Celsius to develop beautiful fruit. Finally, the wine is aged in the fine lees for at least four months. The result is this delightfully light, classic white wine. The aroma is very fruity with notes of citrus, green apple, gooseberry, and a touch of minerality. The taste is refreshing, with a beautiful balance of fruit and freshness! Muros Antigos Escolha Anselmo Mendes is highly recommended!
