This red wine from Norte Sur, made from Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, is a true treat. At this price, and also 100% organic, it was quite a surprise to us. Until we discovered that this wine is made by the Dominio de Punctum winery. A family-owned winery founded in 2005 by the Fernández Cifuente family, the name comes from its location at the intersection of the cities of Cuenca, Ciudad Real, and Albacete. Dominio de Punctum translates to "estate at the crossroads" and boasts some of the finest vineyards in La Mancha. Significant investment has been made in the vineyards planted in 2005, as well as in modern winemaking techniques, making this a truly exceptional piece of craftsmanship. With the arrival of the Norte Sur red wine, the range is complete, and it's no wonder we often see this red wine in upscale restaurants.
The harvest of the Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes
The vineyards' development has continued unabated, and today, the vineyard is already fifteen years old and produces a powerful and full harvest. Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are used for this red wine from Norte Sur, two grape varieties that complement each other perfectly. Harvesting takes place in two vineyards, Finca el Fabián and Las Pedroñeras, in La Mancha. The grapes enjoy abundant afternoon sunshine but also the pleasant coolness of nighttime temperatures. This allows for an organic harvest, resulting in a red wine of flawless purity.
Full and very powerful this red wine Norte Sur
The harvest begins at night, protecting the grapes from transport to Dominio de Punctum. After a short pressing, the juice is aged in the cellars. This red wine matures and proudly bears the name Norte Sur. Upon pouring, a ruby red color with a purple sheen reveals itself. The aroma reveals a powerful aroma of red and black fruit, accompanied by subtle spice from the Cabernet Sauvignon. The Tempranillo grape provides a smooth palate and a rich bouquet of flavors. We're reminded of cherries, berries, and some spices, as well as a touch of tobacco and vanilla. In short, a wine with considerable depth and drinkability.
