Machete Orin Swift is a unique blend of Petit Sirah, Syrah, and Grenache. This perhaps somewhat unusual blend was aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. This Machete is a very full-bodied and powerful wine. This power is even slightly discernible in its almost inky black color.

The origins of Orin Swift Winery go back to 1995, when Davy Phinney went to study in beautiful Florence. He learned about winemaking and became fascinated. After graduating, he started working as a harvest worker at a local winery. He decided to work hard and eventually start his own business. In 1998, he founded Orin Swift Cellars. Orin is his father's middle name, and Swift is his mother's maiden name. As a tribute, he combined the two names. Step by step, he grew the brand into what it is today: a global leader in American wines! At Machete, everything revolves around creating a beautiful blend. The goal was to bring out the Petit Sirah in the blend, both powerful and delicate. Only the very best grapes were selected for this purpose. The Syrah and Grenache, combined with the Petit Sirah, ultimately create a unique blend, showcasing all the layers of their distinctive characteristics. This has resulted in a truly captivating wine.

The smell and taste of the Machete wine

The nose also boasts aromas suggestive of great power, such as ripe black fruit, leather, cedarwood, and spices. This is even more pronounced on the palate, with delicious notes of ripe black cherries, berries, and a pleasant herbal blend. Hints of vanilla, licorice, and licorice are also present. The tannins are present but in good measure, and the rich, powerful finish completes this Orin Swift red wine.
