For twenty years, Pago de Cirsus has captivated us with the finest wines from Navarra. It all began in 2000 when Inaki Nunez acquired a two-hundred-and-twenty-hectare estate in the southernmost tip of Navarra. This area, called La Finca Bolandín, is situated quite high, nearly four hundred meters above sea level. He planted a total of one hundred and forty hectares of vineyards, including Chardonnay grapes. These grapes thrive in warm Spain and produce clusters with an incredible amount of flavor. The climate high up on the mountain is fantastic for Chardonnay grapes; abundant sunshine produces strong clusters, and the natural cooling breeze and falling nighttime temperatures contribute to a consistent growing season.
Wood aging for the Pago de Cirsus Chardonnay Barrel Fermented
For this premium white wine from Pago de Cirsus, only the finest Chardonnay bunches are harvested. A unique and oldest vineyard today produces a unique yield. Harvested entirely by hand, this ensures only the finest bunches make it to Pago de Cirsus's press. After pressing, this Chardonnay is aged for a full nine months in new oak barrels. This is why this wine is labeled "Barrel Fermented," and the proof is in the pudding. The wine is allowed to mature and acquire all the wonderful qualities of the oak barrel.
Full and very powerful this Pago de Cirsus Chardonnay Barrel Fermented
It's simply a joy to drink, and we can clearly see that this white wine was made by grand master Jean Marc Sauboua, who rose to fame at Château Haut Brion in Bordeaux. This man has a long track record, and it's no wonder his wines are truly fantastic, especially at these prices. The international wine press is also raving about Pago de Cirsus wines, having already received numerous awards. On the nose, this white wine has notes of dried apricots, vanilla, hazelnut, and some light spice. The palate is also a feast for the eyes; what a delightful wine. Aromas of smoked oak, vanilla, yellow fruit, and nuts. This Pago de Cirsus Chardonnay Barrel Fermented is a beautiful wine, beautifully juicy and mildly dry.
