Palena Sauvignon Blanc

Palena has been a staple in our selection for years. The winery is known for its pure and clean wines from Chile. It all began in 1879 when the first wines were made in the Central Valley. Initially, they only produced sparkling wine, but around the 1980s they also started producing still wines, including this Sauvignon Blanc. Today, Palena has left sparkling wine behind and uses traditional methods and modern techniques to create the finest wines.

In Central Valley, Palena's old, thick trunks are filled with Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The vineyard's elevated location offers the perfect climate, allowing the grapes to receive ample sunshine and cool breezes, as well as falling nighttime temperatures. This coolness is crucial for maintaining the freshness of the grapes, allowing this Sauvignon Blanc to truly stand out. Once the desired ripeness has been achieved by the Palena winemaker, the grapes are harvested at night. After harvest, all the bunches are immediately transported to Palena, where a rigorous selection process awaits. Only the finest bunches are pressed, which contributes to the quality of this Sauvignon Blanc.

The aroma and taste of the Palena Sauvignon Blanc

After pressing, this Sauvignon Blanc is aged for an impressive three months on its lees in the Palena cellars. A beautifully refreshing wine with a unique character. The aroma offers a vibrant palette of green apple, citrus peel, mown grass, and gooseberry. The palate is pure and refined, with a wonderful freshness. Beautiful aromas of white fruit and citrus notes. The finish is refreshing and clean. This white wine is, of course, delicious as an aperitif or evening wine. But it also pairs well with dishes such as fresh salads, shellfish, and grilled fish.
