The big name behind the wines from this fantastic Barolo winery is Mr. Paolo Manzone. He has been crafting the region's finest wines for years and is known for his modern winemaking style, which features a nod to Burgundy. He ages all his wines in French oak barrels, the same type used in Burgundy. The winery was founded in 1999, but we can tell you the vineyards are much older. They date back as far as seventy years, resulting in unique harvests.
The old vineyard of Paolo Manzone

The Paolo Manzone winery isn't large, boasting only ten hectares of vineyards. But they are impressive when it comes to the refined and powerful quality of the area. Paolo is often asked for his knowledge and heritage, and he's happy to share it with other winemakers. This red wine, made from Dolcetto d'Alba, is produced from the vineyard named after Magna. The vineyard, located around the town of Alba in Piedmont, is thirty years old and produces a superb harvest. Because the vineyard is perfectly positioned with a sunny exposure at an altitude of 400 meters, the harvest is refined. The ripening process is slow and balanced, allowing the bunches to draw ample nourishment from the strong soil structure. Once the grapes are ripe, all the bunches are harvested by hand, which contributes to the purity of this red wine.
Smooth and accessible this Magna Dolcetto d'Alba

The bunches are pressed immediately upon arrival and undergo a long aging process in Paolo Manzone's cellars. To preserve the youthfulness and freshness of the Dolcetto d'Alba, it is aged exclusively in steel barrels. This results in a wonderfully fresh red wine with a pleasantly fruity character. This is clearly noticeable upon pouring, as the ruby red color sparkles in the glass. It offers beautiful aromas of red fruit and a hint of violet. The palate is very smooth with abundant fruit notes of strawberry, cherry, and berry. On the back of the tongue, we also detected hints of chocolate and cherry jam.
