We are so proud to be selling the wines of this father from the Barolo region. This is how we, and many others, see Mr. Paolo Manzone: a winemaker who passionately crafts the finest wines, with a strong sense of pioneering spirit. He combines modern winemaking techniques with ancient Italian traditions, and we believe he excels at it. Paolo and his wife Luisella Manzone founded their winery in 1999 and have since produced a wide range of red wines from the Piedmont region. Paolo also has good news for white wine lovers in this region: he has purchased a very small vineyard of Roero Arneis grapes.

The old Reysu vineyard

The Arneis grape is a common sight these days. It thrives in cooler climates, which is essential, as the vineyard is situated at an altitude of up to three hundred meters. At this altitude, the air is harsh, and the bunches are exposed to plenty of fresh air from the wind and falling nighttime temperatures. The vineyards face south, allowing the sun to do its work, and we taste that in this white wine. Plenty of fruitiness, but also plenty of refreshing notes and lovely acidity. When the harvest is ripe, all the bunches are harvested early in the morning. Each bunch is inspected and hand-packed in small 20-kilo crates to Paolo Manzone.

Wonderfully fresh and ripe this Paolo Manzone Reysu Roero Arneis

Upon pouring, our senses are already stimulated, as we encounter a beautiful lemon-yellow color with a green sheen. It flows from the glass, offering fruity notes of green apple and apricot, as well as green herbs, stone fruit, and tomato leaf. On the palate, it has all the wonderful notes of a top Roero Arneis! First, nuances of apple and lime with hints of mint leaf. At the back of the throat and against the cheeks, there's lovely, refined acidity of lime and grapefruit, along with hints of gooseberry and fresh melon. The finish is long, balanced, and wonderfully refreshing.
