Description
Over the past forty years, Weingut Pfaffl has become Austria's top producer. But it all began in 1978 when young Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl became owners of Weingut Pfaffl in Stetten, a village just north of Vienna in the Weinviertel region. Initially, the farm consisted not only of vineyards but also of grains and potatoes. But the young couple had only one mission: to put Grüner Veltliner back on the map. Well, they succeeded, and Wine Enthusiast even named Pfaffl European Winery of the Year.
The harvest of the Sauvignon Blanc Vom Haus
We already knew that the Pfaffl family never sits still and continues to surprise us. But this latest white wine, made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, is truly a storybook experience. First, we visit the vineyard in Lower Austria, the region surrounding the capital, Vienna. There, they cultivate the top Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, planted in loess soil. The climate is perfect because of the abundance of sunshine, but even more importantly, the coolness. This coolness is naturally caused by the wind blowing through the vineyard, but also by the sharp drop in nighttime temperatures. This ensures the Sauvignon Blanc grapes grow evenly and ripen perfectly. In the morning, they are harvested entirely by hand and taken directly to the Pfaffl press.Full and very powerful this Pfaffl Sauvignon Blanc Vom Haus
Upon opening the bottle, we immediately smell a heady aroma of gooseberry, green herbs, and a hint of passion fruit. As we pour, these aromas intensify, revealing a beautiful, clear color with a green sheen. Lovely aromas of gooseberry and green asparagus predominate. On the palate, this Pfaffl Sauvignon Blanc Vom Haus offers a refreshing sensation with vibrant notes of citrus fruit. The back of the palate reveals a wealth of green herbs and a light hint of peach. Simply put, a textbook example of a top Sauvignon Blanc from Austria.Product details
