Vigneti del Vulture, a winery founded by six friends, all with a background in the wine industry, joined forces, shared vineyards, and shared knowledge. This fusion of broad expertise and a wide range of vineyards has created a fantastic winery. The vineyards are located around the town of Acerzena in Basilicata. All the vines are in the heel of the boot and all planted in the old soil on the best slopes of this wine region. This seems like a winning formula for fine wines!

15 months of wood aging for Piano del Cerro

It's certainly a winning formula! With Vigneti del Vulture's top wine, Piano del Cerro, the friends have already won numerous awards. This red wine is made from the Aglianico grape, a grape that lends itself perfectly to making full-bodied and powerful wines. Well, this Piano del Cerro is certainly a full-bodied and powerful wine. But, back to the vineyards. The Aglianico grapes for this red wine come from Vigneti del Vulture's best vineyards. The old vines ensure a small but excellent yield of grapes. Thanks to the warm climate during the day and the cooler wind in the vineyards at night, the grapes have a balanced growing season. When the grapes are perfectly ripe, they are harvested by hand and transported in small crates to the modern winery. After vinification, this red wine is aged entirely in French oak barrels for 15 months for a phenomenal result.

Powerful red wine

We can't wait to experience this phenomenal result. Just uncorking this beautiful, thick bottle brings a sense of happiness. The color is a beautiful, deep ruby red with an almost black rim. As we nose the glass, we encounter broad aromas of complex red fruit, from black cherry to ripe plum, a pleasant spicy note, and a hint of cedarwood at the finish. On the palate, we noted a full-bodied red wine with spicy notes of cassis, black cherry, tobacco, and cedar, along with a light balsamic note. Finally, a mild vanilla undertone thanks to the beautiful oak aging. The finish is smooth, intense, and full. A wine to shout about!
