Since 1914, Yvon Mau has headed the winery that produces Pierre Jean wines. The story goes that this man was cycling through France in search of fine wines. Having found the perfect location around 1913, he became the owner of the winery in 1914, which is still known by his name, Yvon Mau. This man was always searching for gems from unknown sources. High-quality wines at a very reasonable price. This is certainly still evident in Pierre Jean wines today. Pierre Jean is named after Yvon Mau's grandson, who also proudly led the winery for many years.

The vineyards for this red Pierre Jean

The vineyards, planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for this red wine, are planted on the slopes of three different mountains. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are situated at a slightly higher altitude than the Merlot grapes. This ensures that all the plants, with an average age of 30 years, receive sufficient warmth and coolness, as well as the right nutrients from the soil. At optimal ripeness, both varieties are harvested separately and transported in small crates to Yvon Mau's winery. Here, the grapes are sorted on long tables so that only the finest fruit is selected for pressing. After the grape varieties are vinified separately, the final blend is created by Pierre Jean's winemakers. Once bottled, the wine is aged for another three months in the cellars before the winemakers approve the wine as finished.

The end result of all the hard work in the vineyards and the winery is clearly evident. It's no wonder we've successfully stocked this red wine for years! Poured into the glass, we see a deep, dark red color with a rich, rich aroma. The aroma reveals a delightful array of different aromas, including ripe red fruit and a lovely, full-bodied spice. This creates a silky, smooth taste with a pleasant power. Beautiful nuances of cherry and black currant interspersed with various spices. The finish is full-bodied and smooth.
