A few years ago, it was unthinkable for a winery to focus solely on alcohol-free wines. But now we know it's a craft in itself; making alcohol-free wine is a true craft! This Pierre Zero is made by a very young winery, Domaines Pierre Chavin. With modern techniques and a great deal of ambition, the winery has become a global player in purity and potency of alcohol-free wines. The four friends who founded the winery learned the trade from their parents, all of whom work in French viticulture. Pierre Zero wines are vinified using modern methods while preserving the characteristics of the Chardonnay grape.
Alcohol-free Chardonnay wine
For this white alcohol-free wine from Pierre Zero, only Chardonnay grapes are grown in the south of France. The grapes thrive in the perfect environment, with abundant sunshine and a cool breeze. The ancient and powerful soil structure gives the harvest a magical quality that we taste in this wine. Processing the harvest and making it are essentially the same as for any alcoholic wine. Only after fermentation, during which a glass of Chardonnay develops its full flavor, is the alcohol extracted using a state-of-the-art centrifuge technique. This preserves the flavors in the wine, making it world-renowned for its aroma and taste.
What does Pierre Zero Chardonnay taste like?
Upon pouring, we see a golden yellow color with a yellow sheen. The beautifully thick structure reveals that this is simply a top-notch wine. The aroma also reflects the beautiful qualities of the Chardonnay grape: plenty of tropical fruit, a touch of butter, and some nuances of fresh lychee and exuberant flowers. The taste is truly magnificent, in our opinion one of the best alcohol-free wines we've ever tasted. A lovely, thick attack of tropical fruit, accompanied by hints of peaches, pineapple, and other tropical fruits. A lovely, delicate freshness on the palate with a touch of citrus fruit. But what a beautiful, non-alcoholic Chardonnay this is.
