Piper Heidsieck Champagne is more than just any champagne. It seeks out people with a special character. It was drunk by celebrities who shaped the world over the past two centuries. It appeared everywhere. Piper Heidsieck deviates from the beaten path. Ironically, this idiosyncratic character is the great success of Piper Heidsieck Champagne. By linking its name to the great society stars of the era, Piper Heidsieck Champagnes always managed to attract attention. It all began, of course, with the society queen of the 18th century: Marie Antoinette.

Piper Heidsieck's Champagne

The house was founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, who had long before been seduced by the power of Champagne. He wanted to create a champagne beloved by the Queen of the French, the still-infamous Marie Antoinette. From the very first sip, Marie Antoinette was won over, and it became the champagne of the French court. This made Piper Heidsieck Champagne a popular choice among the Society from the very beginning. When Florens-Louis Heidsieck died, his nephew Christian Heidsieck took over the business. He enlisted the help of Henri-Gaillaume Piper, and together they made a splash. When Christian Heidsieck died suddenly, he left behind a grieving widow. However, the grieving process was short-lived, as the widow Heidsieck remarried her husband's former business partner, Henri-Guillaume Piper. Together they continued the Piper Heidsieck champagne house.

The grieving process quickly turned into a force: Piper Heidsieck became relevant across all levels of society. In certain houses, Piper Heidsieck champagne was indispensable. Stars who defined the zeitgeist, such as Marilyn Monroe, Fred Astaire, Al Pacino, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Viktor & Rolf, are linked to this unique champagne. It's a delicate blend of the three most important champagne grapes, with Pinot Noir (55%) predominating. This creates a delicate, refreshing champagne, where freshly baked bread and toast blend with small citrus fruits, ripe white pears, and a hint of baked apple. Fresh and complex in flavor: a formula that has worked for almost 250 years!
