Love is the best word to describe the Vigneti del Vulture winery. Six winegrower friends started their joint winery in the town of Acerzena. Each friend brought in their vineyards and shared their winemaking knowledge. This quickly proved to be a success, and today this Italian winery produces exquisite wines, including this red Pipoli. After so many years, their success has only grown, and they've built a state-of-the-art winery. According to the friends, nature is important, but so are knowledge and modern techniques to achieve true success.
Wood bearing for the Pipoli Aglianico del vulture
The old vineyards for this red wine are found in the Municipalities of Acerenza and Barile e Maschito. Here, the climate is perfect for the red Aglianico grape. Plenty of sunshine gives the grapes strength and sufficient sugar. The cool wind and falling nighttime temperatures ensure a consistent growing season. Once the grapes reach full ripeness, they are harvested entirely by hand. Each Aglianico bunch is inspected, and only the finest are used in this red Pipoli wine. After the first pressing, forty percent of the wine is aged in French oak barrels. This is crucial for the Aglianico grape, as it imparts strength, suppleness, and richness in both aroma and flavor.
Full and very powerful this red Pipoli Aglianico
The six friends shared a love for making wine when they jointly founded the Vigneti del Vulture winery.
The fun begins the moment you open the bottle, because once the cap is off, you can smell the Italian sun. Plenty of blackberries, cherries, and light spices greet you. Pouring reveals a beautiful deep red color with a hint of purple. Nosing the glass reveals even more red and black fruit, as well as vanilla and sweet spices. The palate is truly full of the Aglianico grape, with a richness of blackcurrant and jam complemented by the right spices and a hint of balsamic.
