A wine that will only improve with age. This Barolo from Pira comes from the world-famous Vignarionda vineyard in Serralunga. It's the finest cru in the Barolo appellation, and you can taste it immediately. A full-bodied wine rich in warm aromas and flavors. It has an endless finish. A wine with great aging potential, but be sure to let it age well.

Every glass of Pira is a journey of discovery

From the Pira winery, you have a magnificent view of the historic crus of Serralunga. A little further on lies the gentle slope of the legendary cru Vignarionda, the vineyard from which Pira produces this Barolo. Founder and father of the current owner, Luigi Pira, has been growing grapes in and around this historic location for decades. Initially, they sold to large wineries, but since the 1990s, they have been producing wines under their own label. This has become a classic and high-quality Piedmontese line of red wines. The Barolos from this winery guarantee quality and character. Pira employs modern winemaking techniques and uses both large and small oak barrels to age the wines. Each glass is a journey of discovery full of character and depth.

Long-term wood aging for Pira Barolo Vignarionda

The Vignarionda vineyard was planted in 1994 and is located at an altitude of 330 meters above sea level. The subsoil consists of limestone and clay, which gives the wine that extra touch of character. The vineyard faces southwest, which is favorable for aging. Barolo Vignarionda is vinified in horizontal, temperature-controlled fermentation tanks for 12 to 15 days. The wine is aged for over 24 months, partly in small wooden barrels and partly in large wooden barrels. The Barolo Vignarionda from Pira radiates an intense garnet color in the glass. Immediately appealing with a complex and elegant nose. Aromas of wild berries, roses, tobacco, and balsamic vinegar. The palate is rich and powerful with notes of tar, roses, herbs, and straw. This continues into a long finish. Delicious with meat dishes.

2021 is probably one of the best recent vintages, along with 2019.
