The Pirovano winery has a long history. In 1850, Amadio Pirovano, then a shoemaker, decided to branch out. He and his sons opened an Italian restaurant featuring local wines, as wine was his passion. After a successful period, the family decided to start producing their own wines. After all, he knew exactly what was available in the region. Amadio Pirovano wanted to further improve quality, and this led to the launch of Pirovano Wines in 1910. Today, the winery has grown into a major player while maintaining Italian wine traditions. The winery also acquired other vineyards and expanded into other wine regions, including Veneto, Abruzzo, Le Marche, Apulia, and Sardinia. A winery close to our hearts, as they only do what's best for nature and make wines as they were originally intended.
The old Negroamaro vineyard called Contrada Monte
The vineyards are planted in the heel of the boot and have belonged to the family winery for a very long time. The Negroamaro is grown in various parts of Puglia to enhance the depth and richness of the wine. The warm climate with abundant sunshine contributes to the ripening of the grapes. However, the Negroamaro vineyards also provide a cooling breeze, provided by the wind from the sea, which is practically always present. This ensures that the grapes receive sufficient refreshment and that the growing process is even.
The softness of Contrada Monte Puglia Negroamaro
This soft and very round Negroamaro comes from Puglia, in southern Italy. Thanks to the sun and perfect climate, these grapes grow into beautiful clusters, which are talked about throughout the region. Contrada Monte is therefore also called Grandi Vini Di Puglia, and yes, we agree. A soft but especially friendly red wine with abundant notes of stewed blackberries, cherries, and blueberries on the nose. On the palate, this Pirovano Negroamaro Puglia Contrada Monte is very smooth, full of ripe fruit flavors and a touch of chocolate and vanilla.
