This Primitivo Salento from the Pirovano winery is often called a sweet treat. It was the first wine the family pressed after opening the winery in 1910. Before that, Amadio Pirovano was a shoemaker, but he had already abandoned that in 1850. That year, he opened a restaurant where local wines played a key role. Together with his two sons, he made the restaurant a success, and their knowledge of Italian wines grew immensely. As a result, the Pirovano family founded their own winery in 1910, dedicated to producing the finest Italian wines. The winery began with vineyards in southern Italy but now has several vineyards throughout the country. The family is unparalleled in selecting the best locations for their wines, and you can taste the difference. This Primitivo from Salento is another exceptionally beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

The best Primitivo wine from Salento

Creating the finest Primitivo wine from Salento was the goal behind establishing these vineyards. Vines were planted in various locations throughout Apulia, and today they yield a bumper harvest. The grapes enjoy the strong sun as well as the fresh sea breeze. The breeze that constantly blows through the vineyards cools the growing process, giving the harvest a natural freshness. The grapes are harvested at ideal ripeness and are carefully and thoroughly inspected upon arrival. The resulting juice is almost like a black pearl, so beautiful.

The short taste description of this red wine

The magic words for this Pirovano Contrada Monte Primitivo are soft, round, and bursting with fruit. The Primitivo comes from Salento, where the grapes receive plenty of sunshine but also the cool sea breeze. This allows Pirovano to produce magnificent, thick bunches that can be harvested early in the season. The aroma offers a warm bouquet of cherries, plums, blackberries, and, of course, vanilla. The palate is soft and round with plenty of fresh red and black fruit. On the back of the tongue, this Primitivo has lovely nuances of spice and cocoa.
