What a superb wine this is! After the red version, Poggio Le Volpi now offers a white version, the Roma Bianco. It's made from the Malvasia grape; this ancient grape variety is known for its aromatic qualities and minerality, and it also handles heat very well. This Poggio Le Volpi Roma Malvasia Puntinata is a distinctive wine with a very full and smooth character.

The vineyards of Poggio Le Volpi Roma

The vineyards for this white wine are located in Frascati, in the Colle Pisano region, three hundred meters above sea level. The soil is volcanic, rich in red earth and tuff, and situated on hilly terrain. The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed, and then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in forty-liter stainless steel vats at a constant temperature. This is followed by aging on lees in stainless steel tanks. Production is handled by the Poggio Le Volpi winery, which guarantees top-quality wines. The origins of this winery date back to the 1920s. Mario Mergè began producing wine and olive oil at that time. He shared his life and work experience with his son Armando, who then passed his knowledge on to his son Felice, making him the third-generation winemaker in his family. He founded the Italian winery Poggio Le Volpi in 1996.

Full and very powerful this White wine Poggio Le Volpi Roma

The philosophy of this winery is to create wines that emphasize the richness of the land and the expertise of the vines. This is evident in this Roma Bianco. This fresh wine reflects the luxury and splendor of ancient Rome. Roma Doc Bianco is produced purely from Malvasia Puntinata, grown on the volcanic soils of the Castelli Romani, which is also one of the most important grapes used in the production of Frascati Superiore Docg. It is an ancient varietal that is highly interesting for its aromatic qualities and mineral expression. It gives the wines a bright color, a superb flavor, and simultaneously structure and softness. The aroma offers an incomparable impression of white fruit, as well as peach, melon, and ripe pear. The palate is soft and rounded with a full, thick structure, abundant fruit nuances, and subtle hints of yellow jam and green herbs.
