A very successful Petit Chablis wine from the Poitout winery. While Poitout may not have a long and interesting history, its founders are winemakers par excellence. This is particularly evident in this Petit Chablis. A beautiful white wine that pairs beautifully with oysters.
The French wine of Poitout from Chablis
This delicious Petit Chablis comes from the Poitout winery, founded by Louis and Catherine Poitout. Both founders were born in the beautiful Chablis region and have been steeped in the art of winemaking since childhood. Even in their youth, Louis and Catherine Poitout were inseparable. Before founding the Poitout winery in 2003, they explored other French wine regions. For example, they lived in Alsace for a considerable time in the 1990s. This gave the Poitout couple extensive knowledge of winemaking.
In 2003, they founded the current winery. The winery is a mix of various vineyards. For example, the vineyards in Chablis and Lignorelles belong to Catherine, and the vineyards in Maligny and Villy belong to Louis. Together, they purchased the vineyard in Fleys, bringing the total acreage of the Poitout estate to approximately 18 hectares.
Impressions of Poitout Petit Chablis
This Petit Chablis, like its bigger brother, is made exclusively from Chardonnay. This grape is a true icon in Burgundy's vineyards. It creates robust, full-bodied, and distinctive white wines that are highly appreciated by many wine connoisseurs. Because the Poitout vineyards boast a unique terroir, Poitout wines stand out even more.
This Poitout Petit Chablis certainly doesn't disappoint. The unique vinification process has a clear influence on the wine. Both the aroma and the palate reveal a lively and sparkling character. Think robust minerality, good citrus notes, fragrant ginger, and striking hints of flint. Exactly what you'd expect from a Chablis. Exciting from start to finish.
