What a classy wine this Vino Nobile di Montepulciano from Poliziano! This leading winery produces many different red wines, but this one is truly special. It's blended from 85 percent Prugnolo Gentile and 15 percent Colorino, Canaiolo, and Merlot grapes.
Poliziano's dream
With the arrival of a new generation of owners, the Poliziano winery has undergone a revolutionary transformation. Today, Federico Carletti is at the helm, responsible for this transformation. Previously, the winery produced wines that were sold to large bottling companies, who then used them to refine weaker wines. However, this Italian's goal was to produce and bottle wines himself. Achieving this dream required a wealth of knowledge. But the necessary practical experience and expertise were certainly not lacking. Since his arrival in 1981, the company has risen rapidly. The Prugnolo Gentile is Montepulciano's most characteristic grape and perfectly expresses the region's immense potential. The grapes are hand-picked and then rigorously selected. After harvest, primary fermentation takes place in steel tanks, with the must constantly agitated. This primary fermentation lasts approximately 18 to 22 days. The wine is aged in oak barrels in the magnificent Poliziano cellars, giving it a complex and broad aroma of black fruit, plums, leather, and vanilla. The palate has a robust attack of black fruit, vanilla, and concentration, with some tannins afterward.A powerful red wine from Poliziano
By being promoted to DOCG status in 1980, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano instantly found itself in the same league as, for example, Brunello di Montalcino and Barolo. To qualify for DOCG labeling, a wine must be aged in barrels for at least two years. The result is a powerful wine, deep in color, with excellent aging potential.Product details
