Portillo White Malbec | Limited Edition from the Andes
Malbec, but different. This Portillo White Malbec is a limited edition from Argentina's Uco Valley and demonstrates that Malbec excels in more than just red. Pressing the grapes immediately after harvest creates a clear, crisp white wine with a surprising character. An innovative twist on a Mendoza classic.
Vineyards and Region – High-altitude freshness from the Uco Valley
The grapes come from the Uco Valley, one of Argentina's highest wine regions, nestled at the foot of the Andes Mountains. Thanks to the significant difference between day and night temperatures, the grapes develop a rich aroma while retaining their acidity. Portillo's vineyards are located at an altitude of approximately 1,050 meters and are part of the renowned Bodegas Salentein winery.
Vinification and style – white wine from blue grapes
For this special wine, blue Malbec grapes are harvested and then immediately pressed, so no color is released from the skins. Only the juice is fermented, at a low temperature, in stainless steel tanks. This keeps the wine light, expressive, and pure.
Tasting notes
Pale yellow with a hint of pink. The nose offers fresh aromas of citrus, white peach, and blossom. The palate is crisply dry, mineral, and elegant, with lively acidity and a surprisingly refreshing finish.
Serving suggestions
Delicious with sushi, ceviche, goat cheese, or light dishes with lime and cilantro. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.
