The long history of Feuerheerd's
The Feuerheerd Port wine house has a long history. It began in 1815 when the German merchant Dietrich Matthias Feuerheerd founded the house. He came from a Hamburg merchant family. Today, Feuerheerd's is a well-known brand of the traditional Zeller and Barros port wine houses. Feuerheerd's is best known for its beautiful vintage creations and a guarantee for ports of exceptional quality. Today, the Van Zeller family owns the port house. They are one of the most well-known families in the port area. This family settled around Nijmegen and Mechelen, where they owned several buildings. During the Eighty Years' War, the family emigrated from the north to Portugal. Around this time, they invested in winemaking, particularly Port, which was a popular drink at the time. Today, they are one of the best-known families in the Port region and own several renowned Port houses.
A strict selection for the LBV port
For the production of Porto Feuerheerd's LBV, the grapes are rigorously selected after harvest. Only the finest juice is good enough. After maceration, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The bouquet of Feuerheer's LBV port wine combines intense, fruity aromas of plums, cherries, and blackberries with beautiful notes of spice and chocolate. A full-bodied flavor that is simultaneously soft and tannic. A truly superb port for this price! Our vinologist said, "Fantastic, truly a winner."
