What a fantastic wine this Prazo de Roriz from the Douro region of Portugal is! It's so beloved among wine lovers for good reason, as the quality is outstanding. It's made from Portugal's finest and most famous grape varieties: Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Amarela, Tinto Cao, and several others.

Wines from the best grapes

Prats & Symington wines originate from the Douro Valley, one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. The winery was established in 1999 as a joint venture between Bruno Prats, a renowned Bordeaux winemaker, and the Symington family from Portugal. The Portuguese family wanted to combine their knowledge of the Douro's various terroirs and grape varieties with Bruno Prats's experience. This collaboration allowed them to produce wine from the finest grapes from the finest plots in the finest regions. The winery specializes in dry red wine. The grapes for this Prazo de Roriz Douro are hand-picked and transported in small containers to the Quinta de Roriz winery. Here, the grapes are hand-sorted and immediately selected to ensure that only the finest grapes reach the stainless steel vats in perfect condition. The grapes are gently crushed and fermented with specially selected yeast at temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius. Gentle maceration is then applied to produce a fresh and fruity wine. This Prazo de Roriz is aged for an impressive six months in 400-liter oak barrels. French oak barrels are used for greater depth.

A full and soft red wine from Prats & Symington

And it certainly succeeded! On the nose, this Prazo de Roriz has hints of cherries and berries, complemented by pepper and vanilla. The taste is simply fantastic, full and smooth with plenty of black fruit. There are also nuances of black pepper, vanilla, plums, and spices.
