What an incredibly beautiful glass of wine: unique, stylish, and incredibly powerful. This exquisite white wine hails from the Canary Island of Lanzarote and is known for its volcanic influences. This Princesa Gara is Vega de Yuco's flagship wine and, beyond its stunning blue-black bottle, boasts a volume that will astonish any wine lover.

The best wine from Lanzarote?

The vineyards for Princesa Gara are located on the northern side of the island, where the climate is slightly cooler than elsewhere. The grape variety for this white wine is solely Malvasia, a grape that thrives in the volcanic soil. The plants are planted in small clumps, surrounded by a wall of lava rocks to protect the bunches from the wind. The fresh ocean breeze also influences the wine, imparting a freshness and saltiness. Combined with the soil structure and warm climate, this results in a blend of Chablis, Montrachet, and a pure New Zealand white wine.

Completely hand-harvested for this Gara

Once the Malvasia grapes are ripe, the incredibly difficult harvest begins. The grape pickers move from pit to pit, hand-picking the finest bunches for this Princesa Gara Blanco Secco. The bunches are harvested in baskets early in the morning and taken directly to the Vega de Yuco wine press. This top-quality wine is perfected at a gigantic altitude atop the mountain. The white wine is aged for a long time on the lees, bringing out its expressive aromas and flavors.

Full and very powerful this Princesa Gara Blanco Secco

The moment we popped the cork, we fell in love. Beyond the beautiful blue-black bottle, we immediately smelled a spicy aroma of spices and tropical fruit. In the glass, it gleamed a beautiful golden yellow with a faint green shimmer. A swirl revealed a robust bouquet of lychee and mango, along with hints of flint, vanilla, grapefruit, and fresh citrus. The palate was utterly astonishing, wonderfully creamy on the tongue with plenty of yellow fruit like apricots and apples. The lovely acidity against the cheeks created a fresh sensation, with notes of flint, spices, vanilla, and a touch of gooseberry. A finish that lingered for a very long time. We are fans of this top wine from Lanzarote!
