Spain at its finest! That's perhaps the best, and most beautiful, summary of this beautiful glass of Principe de Viana Crianza. And in this price range, this might just be the ultimate perfect wine. It's certainly the craftsmanship of the Principe de Viana winery, which has been a leader in northern Spain for 35 years. The winery was founded in 1983 in Murchante, a town in the south of the Navarra wine region. This wine region may not enjoy the popularity of, for example, Rioja, but don't underestimate these wines.
A Principe de Viana Prize Winner
The winemaker has a difficult job at the Principe de Viana winery. He's the one who finds the perfect blends for Principe de Viana Crianza every year. It's a fantastic trio of Tempranillo, a Spanish gem, and Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The blends are the master's secret. The "Crianza" designation on the label already reveals a lot about this wine. Spanish wine laws are strict but clear. Crianza means the wine has aged for at least 24 months, including at least six months in oak. This creates the beautiful complexity of Principe de Viana Crianza. Incidentally, Harold Hamersma is also very impressed with this red wine from Navarra. He gave it a whopping 8.5 in the Grote Hamersma! A fantastic score for a wine in this price range.
The aroma and taste of Principe de Viana Crianza
This Spanish gem is always a hit. Open it with red meat dishes, game, and even typical Spanish tapas. But it's also a winner as an aperitif. Your guests will be amazed by the sublime aroma and flavor. Let your nose work, and you'll immediately smell a Spanish wine. A slight tingle on the nose reveals oak aging. As soon as you take a sip of Principe de Viana Crianza, you'll be speechless. You'll taste blackcurrant, ripe black cherries, and even figs. Take the wine back in your mouth and let it swirl across your tongue. You'll taste oak, vanilla, and a hint of coconut. This Principe de Viana hit has a surprising amount of depth.
