The Sicilian wines from Italy
Anyone who looks purely at the natural conditions on the island of Sicily will be undeniable that the factors for ideal viticulture are present here. This was also evident to the peoples who ruled Sicily in the past. Just take a closer look. The sun works overtime, and the terroir is robust and sturdy, ideal for various grape varieties. Because Sicily is also an island, the wind is never far away. This creates a significant difference between day and night temperatures, something that benefits the grapes enormously, especially those in the Purato vineyards, located in the far south of Sicily.
The Italian wines of Purato
Purato Winery was born from the vision of Stefano and Marina Girelli. They had different passions, which converged in Purato Winery. First and foremost, making wine, but with the right quality. The couple also loves the island's flora and fauna. This is the combination they wanted to create. The winery didn't see the light of day until 2002, but the combination of these two passions was recognized again in 2009. Since then, Purato wines have been officially certified organic. So you can enjoy Purato Siccari Appassimento Terre Siciliane with peace of mind.

The lion's share of this Purato Siccari Appassimento Terre Siciliane consists of Sicily's regional pride: Nero d'Avola. Uniquely, a portion of Syrah is also added. The grapes are harvested by hand, but the winemaker allows some of the bunches to dry on the vine; this results in less juice, which is nevertheless highly concentrated. This method was borrowed from Amarone, but the renowned Appassimento technique is now used in many regions. After fermentation, Purato Siccari Appassimento Terre Siciliane is also generously aged in large Slovenian oak barrels.
