Moldavian wines—although initially little was known about them—have been produced since the 12th century. The Stefan Voda region is known for its rich soil structure and delicate climate, allowing for the cultivation of numerous grape varieties. This is why we find well-known grape varieties like this red Cabernet Sauvignon. The name Purcari comes from the name of the village where the château is located. This small village also bears the same name and is surrounded by the vineyards of the Agon Zograf Monastery. It is a beautiful natural area, and many painters have often captured it on canvas.

The Emperor of Russia in the year 1827

After a long history dating back to the 12th century, the Château Purcari winery rose to fame in 1827. That year, Emperor Nicholas I of Russia granted Château Purcari the status of Bessarabia's first specialized winery. Things then accelerated, and after a few years, the winery began receiving its first international wine awards. With great pride and effort, the winery has invested heavily in its vineyards in recent years, and it boasts state-of-the-art winemaking technology. The wines have become world-renowned, a fact that has greatly benefited Moldovan viticulture.

Full and very powerful this Purcari 1827 Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Chateau Purcari's most powerful red wines, thanks in part to its maturation. The vines are planted in rich soil rich in limestone and marl, giving the grapes considerable strength. The climate is perfect, with abundant sunshine and the constant cool breeze blowing through the vineyard. This allows the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to ripen long and evenly, harvested entirely by hand. Harvest takes place early in the morning, which minimizes the risk of oxidation. After pressing, this Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for at least six months in oak barrels. Chateau Purcari's cellars are filled with beautiful oak barrels. The wine is complete with aromas of black fruit, exotic spices, a touch of vanilla, and chocolate. The palate is full and robust, with abundant blackcurrant fruit on the initial attack, followed by notes of spice, cedar, and a touch of vanilla.
