This beautiful winery in Moldova boasts a long winemaking history, having been producing wines in Moldova since the 12th century. The region is known for its fertile soil and perfect climate, allowing for the cultivation of a wide variety of grape varieties. Chateau Purcari takes its name from the village of the same name, which also bears the name Purcari. Around Purcari village, you'll find the winery and the beautiful vineyards of the Agon Zograf Monastery. Today, the estate and vineyards are world-renowned and rival those of major regions such as Bordeaux.

In 1827 Chateau Purcari became very famous

After centuries of winemaking, it was Emperor Nicholas I of Russia who granted Château Purcari the status of the first specialized winery in Bessarabia. They are proud of this, and as a result, Purcari displays the year 1827 on its label. Since then, significant investment has been made in the vineyards, and the winery now boasts state-of-the-art winemaking technology. This has brought Château Purcari a great deal, and we can taste it in the rich aromas and flavors of the various red and white wines from this Moldavian winery.

Wood aging for the Purcari 1827 Chardonnay

The Chardonnay vineyards truly get everything they need. Plenty of sunshine allows the Chardonnay grapes to ripen perfectly. A cooling breeze also contributes to an even harvest. The grapes grow exceptionally well and are harvested entirely by hand. This allows for the selection of only the finest bunches, resulting in a smooth and exceptionally pure white wine. After pressing, this 1827 Chardonnay is aged for six months in oak in the cellars of Chateau Purcari. The wine is full-bodied and creamy, with aromas of tropical fruit, roasted nuts, and vanilla. The palate offers a rich, rich mouthfeel with fruity notes of peach, apricot, and mango. The palate reveals abundant vanilla, almonds, cedar, and light spice. A truly exceptional wine, a joy to drink.
