Quinta de Chocopalha Arinto is a pure expression of Arinto from 26-year-old vineyards, 45 kilometers northwest of Lisbon. It radiates immediately in the glass, making it very appealing. Then, you're surprised by an aromatic nose, and finally, this soft white wine dances in your mouth.
Perfect climate for the Arinto grape
The centuries-old Quinta de Chocapalha estate is nestled in the sun-drenched hills near Alenquer, just northwest of Lisbon. The Tavares da Silva family has nurtured the vineyards over the years, and today their youngest daughter, Sandra, produces some of the finest wines in Portugal. Sandra has built a reputation as a modern and conscious winemaker in the Douro region. Lisbon often evokes sunshine and stunning beaches, but the climate is also quite windy and cool. This is precisely what creates the wonderful aromas and enhances the acidity in the wines. The Arinto grape isn't widely known, but Sandra Tavares has created something special and unmistakable here.
The Arinto is made entirely from this grape variety. Wonderfully pure, fresh, and mineral. The grapes are carefully harvested at peak ripeness. In the winery, they are rigorously selected and sorted so that only the finest grapes reach the bottle. Fermentation takes place for 20 days in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is aged for approximately six months in contact with the fine lees.
How does the Quinta de Chocapalha Arinto taste?
This Arinto sparkles in the glass with delightful aromas of yellow plums and summery stone fruit, intertwined with a citrusy core of ruby-red grapes, citrus fruits, and lemon in a mineral style. A wonderfully fresh wine, minerally and beautifully balanced. Quinta de Chocopalha Arinto pairs well with fresh salads, grilled whitefish, and roasted chicken.
