This Gran Reserva is the most powerful in the Ramon Bilbao line, and what a magnificent wine! Complex and robust, it boasts a rich, rich aroma, thanks in part to thirty months of aging in oak barrels. But that's not all, because after this period, this Gran Reserva matures for another 36 months in the bottle in the Ramon Bilbao cellars. You can imagine that this long period has resulted in a unique wine! It's no wonder Ramon Bilbao was named Winery of the Year 2009 at the Gourmets Awards in Madrid.
The best Rioja wine from Ramon Bilbao
The winery has a long history dating back to the beginning of the last century. Day in, day out, they work to create the finest white and red wines, striving for the highest possible quality. The Tempranillo grape forms the foundation of their quality Riojas. Modern techniques are combined with ancient Spanish traditions in winemaking, resulting in deliciously fresh and fruity wines, as well as classic oak-aged wines. The vineyards are located in Haro, Rioja Alta, the heart of the best Riojas. Limestone and loamy soils, combined with warm and cool winds, produce perfectly ripe grapes, which, thanks to sufficient nighttime cooling, add a great deal of freshness to the wine.
The aroma and taste of the Ramon Bilbao Gran Reserva
The Ramón Bilbao Gran Reserva is made from 90 percent Tempranillo, 5 percent Mazuelo, and 5 percent Graciano. This intense ruby-red wine undergoes a modern vinification process, aging in American oak barrels for 30 months and then a further 36 months in the bottle before release. Bodegas Ramón Bilbao's Gran Reserva has subtle fruit aromas on the nose, such as blackberries, black plums, and spices. Integrated oak and extraction characterize this wine. It has a full flavor with a good balance of acidity and intensity. The tannins are ripe. It is a subtle, elegant wine with considerable complexity. It is an excellent cellaring wine and serves well with grilled or roasted red meat, game dishes, and Dutch cheeses.
