Ramón Bilbao Winery has once again released a beautiful, high-quality wine. This wine comes from the winery's only estate in the Rioja Baja region, near the small town of Tudelilla. This vineyard is about thirty years old and situated at an altitude of around seven hundred meters. The soil, rich in pebbles that provide insulation, is ideal for the grapes to ripen properly. Ramón Bilbao's origins date back to the beginning of the last century. Everything is dedicated to producing the highest quality red and white wines. The Tempranillo grape forms the foundation of their quality Riojas. In the vineyards, modern techniques blend seamlessly with ancient Spanish traditions. While the climate is typically warmer than in Rioja Alta, the high altitude of Rioja Baja ensures cooler nights, allowing the grapes to develop optimal acidity.

Wood aging for the Ramon Bilbao Selection Especial

After harvest, the grapes are transported by tractor to the winery. They are destemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After maceration, the wine is placed in a combination of French and American oak barrels for six months. Then, the wine is cellared and aged in the bottle for another six months before release. This Ramon Bilbao Selection Especial is a prime example of the modern Rioja style, with the elegance of Tempranillo complemented by the juicy Garnacha grape. The wine is aged in oak barrels long enough to allow the tannins to fully develop. Previously called single vineyard, this wine has remained exactly the same!

The scent and taste of the Selection Especial

This Selection Especial has distinctive aromas of dark fruit, spices, and vanilla, and a sultry, smooth flavor with a lovely, long finish. Spicy aromas and vanilla notes. The palate is round and sultry with ripe tannins. The finish is fruity and smooth with a lovely length.
