Ramos Pinto's most special Port, this Vintage Port is from the beautiful 2018 vintage, a remarkable year because they were able to produce a port from a single harvest! The grapes, all hand-picked, are processed using the traditional lagering method (a stone press trough once used for pressing grapes by foot).
Only the best grapes for Ramos Pinto Port
Founded in 1880, Ramos Pinto's history for decades has been characterized by a balance between innovation and respect for tradition. Besides producing wines of exceptional quality, the estate is renowned for its knowledge of terroir and pioneering viticulture. Through a strict production policy, the selection of the finest Douro grape varieties, and systematic technical and technological research, the estate has established itself as a benchmark for producing superior quality wines in Portugal.
The Port House owns four vineyards in the Douro wine region: Quintas do Bom Retiro and da Urtiga, traditional vineyards in the heart of the Douro Valley, for refinement and sophistication; Quinta dos Bons Ares, one of the most modern vineyards in the Douro Superior, for a fresh and lively note; and finally, Quinta de Ervamoira, located in the Côa Valley, for structure, firmness, and intense fruit. Only grapes from its own vineyards are used.
A living bottle of port
Traditional techniques extract the juice from the grapes with exceptional efficiency and care. The final result is truly exceptional; decanting is essential because this Vintage was bottled with sediment. We can therefore conclude that this Ramos Pinto Vintage 2018 continues to develop its flavor as it ages in the bottle. We call it a living bottle of port. A vibrant red color with tawny undertones. The nose reveals notes of fruit like blackcurrants, cherries, grapes, and fresh raisins. The Vintage has a rich, smooth flavor with the finesse of a Vintage port.
