The vineyards of Remelluri
Remelluri was founded in 1967 by Jaime Rodriquez Salis. Together with his wife, they focused on restoring the original, historic vineyards. The vineyards originated in the 10th century under the name Erramelluri. The estate is located in the village of Labastida Alavesa, and the vineyards are situated on the highest slopes of the Sierra de Tolono. The climate is perfect, with ample rainfall and sunshine, and thanks to the mountains, the vineyards are protected from strong winds. The wines are all organically grown from vines between 35 and 80 years old. Good care is essential, and each wine is assessed to determine what is needed to achieve its high quality. For example, if extended aging in barrels is necessary, this is also done. The grape varieties are planted on the beautiful, high slopes. Thanks to this elevated position and the cooling effect of the Atlantic Ocean, the wines develop a wonderful character. The grapes are harvested by hand at peak ripeness and undergo rigorous selection in the cellar. Only the very best is good enough. Temperature-controlled fermentation then follows in the cellar, and the wine is finally aged for 25 months in French and American oak barrels.

The Granja Gran Reserva is a concentrated wine with warm, complex aromas of black fruit, spices, oak, and vanilla. The palate offers subtle sweet notes with high acidity. It has a fresh and soft start on the palate with a taut, long finish. Delicious with meat dishes.
