The Remelluri Lindes de Remelluri San Vicente de la Sonsierra showcases the beautiful character of Rioja. This red wine is made from Garnacha, Graciano, and Temperanillo grapes, grown at an altitude of around 425 meters in fertile soil. It's an accessible wine with a broad texture and fresh notes.
Manual harvest for Remelluri Lindes de Remelluri San Vicente de la Sonsierra
Remelluri was founded in 1967 by Jaime Rodriquez Salis. Together with his wife, they dedicated themselves to restoring the original, historic vineyards. The vineyards originated under the name Erramelluri in the 10th century. Today, the winery has 154 hectares, 105 of which are used for winemaking. The vines are planted on the slopes of small valleys, and some even date back to the time of the monks.
The grapes are grown in the Rioja Alavesa region on clay and limestone soil. The climate is Mediterranean, with the Cantabrian Sea exerting a strong influence. However, thanks to the Sierra de Cantabria mountain range, the vineyards are well protected. Because there is relatively little rainfall and fewer temperature differences than in other areas of the Rioja, the grapes ripen late. Once ripe, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and transported to the winery in 20-kilo crates. Here, the grapes are rigorously sorted and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
The aromatic notes of San Vicente de la Sonsierra
The result is an accessible red wine. The aroma combines delightful fresh fruit with aromatic herbs and occasional hints of smoke. On the palate, a ripe and juicy wine with plenty of dark fruit and a fine structure. An elegant flavor with a pleasant acidity that carries through to the long finish.
