Varietal(s) Chenin Blanc

Johan Reyneke is now one of the top estates in South Africa. The wines are all of high quality and, thanks to biodynamic viticulture, also exceptionally pure. This crisp Chenin Blanc is no exception. Fresh notes with a lively acidity make this wine easy to drink.

The fresh and elegant wines of Reyneke

In 1998, Johan Reyneke took over his mother's Stellenbosch farm. He quickly decided to change course. He now focuses entirely on the rules of organic farming. But even more so, he believes in the philosophy of Rudoph Steiner, who uses herbs, minerals, and cosmic cycles in his farming. According to Reyneke, this ensures the wines are in harmony with nature and avoids any artificial agriculture. The estate comprises 20 hectares of vineyards with stunning views of Stellenbosch. Thanks to its location near False Bay, the grapes enjoy a cooling ocean breeze. The abundant sunshine allows the grapes to ripen well and develop sufficient acidity for fresh and elegant wines. Reyneke's oldest vineyards are two blocks of Chenin Blanc, planted in 1974 and 1976. The old vines are deeply rooted, giving the grapes a wonderful character. The grapes are carefully harvested at peak ripeness. In the winery, a strict selection process follows, with only the finest grapes pressed in whole bunches. Fermentation then takes place with natural yeasts in French oak barrels. After 10 months of aging on the coarse lees, the wine is removed from the barrels and prepared for bottling.

The smell and taste of Reyneke Biodynamic Chenin Blanc

When pouring this Chenin Blanc from Reyneke, you can immediately savor the beautiful aromas of lemon, orange blossom, and pear. These fresh notes are complemented by apple and stone fruit. The palate, like the aromas, is delightfully fresh with a lively acidity. This Chenin Blanc has incredible depth and complexity with a lingering finish. It pairs perfectly with light dishes like fish, sushi, and salads.
